Overview
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of all products and services provided by Piing Technologies Ltd (" Piing", "we", "us"), including Piing hardware, Piing: Intelligence, Piing: Alerts, and Studio. By using any Piing service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
Piing Technologies Ltd is registered in England and Wales under company no. 17036814. The registered office is Radley House Ground Floor, Richardshaw Road, Leeds LS28 6LE. Piing Technologies Ltd is not registered for VAT. This document is issued by Conor Stenner Jones, Director.
Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and have the authority to bind the organisation you represent. By creating an account or placing an order, you confirm that you meet these requirements and that all information you provide is accurate.
Services
Piing provides the following products and services:
- Piing: In-store recognition, Apple Wallet and Google Wallet passes, staff context, visit analytics, attribution and event routing, delivered through a native Shopify app and Shopify POS extension. Recognition can use a tablet kiosk, Piing reader, printed scan-in point or Shopify POS. Piing issues and signs Apple Wallet and Google Wallet passes with its own credentials by default. Merchant-owned credentials can be configured where supported. A linked physical card can tap a compatible reader; Apple phone-to-reader recognition requires the merchant's approved VAS setup; the current Google Wallet route uses QR.
- Retail ID: A separately scoped route for non-Shopify or bespoke retail stacks. The system of record, identity route, order input, write-back and commercial terms are defined in the implementation agreement.
- Piing: Intelligence: A Shopify-only application that analyses order, product and optional first-party browsing signals and writes selected customer attributes to app-owned Shopify metafields.
- Piing: Alerts: A Shopify-only application that renders a first-party notification feed in the storefront, with audience targeting, automations, A/B testing, optional browser push and order attribution.
- Studio: A web-based design tool for creating and producing branded physical NFC cards and digital assets and media, including 3D card previews and web-ready artwork.
- Integrations: Connections that route selected events to CRM and messaging tools, read supported loyalty context, read supported wishlist context and deliver signed webhooks to bespoke destinations.
Installing a Piing Shopify application incorporates these Terms, the Privacy Policy and the Data Processing Addendum. Piing acts on Shopify's customer data request, customer redact and shop redact webhooks as described in that addendum. There are no separate application terms.
We may update, modify, or discontinue features at any time. We will provide reasonable notice for material changes that affect your use of the service.
Third-Party Integrations
Piing supports configured services including Shopify, Apple and Google for Wallet passes; LoyaltyLion, Rivo, Yotpo and Antavo for loyalty; Swym, Wishlist King or selected Shopify customer fields for wishlist context; and Klaviyo, Attentive, Ometria and HubSpot for event delivery. Signed webhooks can serve other destinations. Loyalty values and write-back behaviour depend on the provider and merchant configuration, and awarding starts off. Your use of these services is subject to their own terms and privacy policies. Piing is not responsible for the availability, accuracy or conduct of a third-party service.
Data & Privacy
Your use of Piing is also governed by our Privacy Policy, our Cookie Policy for piing.io, and, where applicable, our Data Processing Addendum. Your commerce platform remains the primary customer record. Piing stores operational records and processes customer context as required for enabled features. Payment card details and biometric profiles remain outside Piing. On Shopify, selected Piing: Intelligence outputs are written to app-owned metafields.
Fees & Payment
Pricing for hardware, subscriptions, and services is set out on our pricing page or in a separate order form. Piing Technologies Ltd is not registered for VAT, and the prices we publish are not subject to UK VAT. If Piing later registers for VAT, we will give notice before VAT is added to a charge.
Subscription charges for the Piing Shopify applications are made through Shopify Billing and appear on your Shopify invoice. Retail ID and bespoke services are charged according to the relevant order form or implementation agreement, which confirms the invoicing and payment arrangements. Piing does not handle payment card details. Hardware and custom work are separate purchases invoiced directly, with the payment terms stated on the order or otherwise agreed in writing.
We reserve the right to adjust pricing with 30 days' written notice. Existing orders and active subscription periods will not be affected by price changes until renewal.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to use Piing services to: violate any applicable law or regulation; infringe on the rights of others; transmit malicious code; attempt to gain unauthorised access to any Piing system; or use the services in a manner that could damage, disable, or impair our infrastructure. You remain responsible for the lawful basis, and for any consent rules, that apply to customer data, storefront tracking and messages you ask Piing to process. Hardware use is also covered by the Hardware Terms.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access for violations of this policy without prior notice.
Limitation of Liability
Service Availability
We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Piing may experience downtime for maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control. We will provide reasonable notice for planned maintenance where possible.
Termination
Either party may terminate these Terms with 30 days' written notice. We may terminate or suspend your access immediately if you breach these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the services ceases. Hardware remains your property. On uninstall, access stops immediately and shop-tied data is deleted on the timetable in the Data Processing Addendum. On termination of these Terms, personal data is deleted or returned within 30 days unless the law requires a longer period.
Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or through the service dashboard at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
