How Piing: Intelligence fits your stack
The Shopify-only app that turns order history and optional consented browsing signals into selected customer metafields.
Piing: Intelligence is a standalone Shopify app. It analyses the Shopify customer and order data a merchant already holds, produces configured customer attributes, and writes selected results back to app-owned Shopify metafields.
It does not require Piing hardware or an in-store rollout. Preview five customer profiles before choosing a paid plan.
The 22 ready-made fields
The app includes 22 ready-made fields:
- Nine AI-inferred fields for attributes such as preferred category, style, likely size, brand affinity, customer persona, likely next category and seasonal behaviour.
- Nine deterministic fields for measures such as average order value tier, purchase frequency, sale sensitivity, reactivation risk, lifetime value tier, gifting behaviour, order cadence, preferred price range and data confidence.
- Four optional pixel-derived fields based on consented first-party browsing signals when the storefront pixel is enabled.
The merchant chooses which fields to enable. Each AI field includes confidence and source context, and field controls determine which values are written. Scale and above add custom fields and prompts.
How a run works
- Intelligence reads the Shopify customer, order and product data needed for the enabled fields.
- Deterministic rules and AI analysis produce structured values.
- The app applies the merchant's field controls and confidence thresholds.
- Enabled results are written to Shopify customer metafields under the app-owned namespace.
- The run history records what ran, when it ran and what was written.
Runs can be started manually, scheduled daily or weekly, or triggered for an individual customer after an order when that setting is enabled. A free five-customer preview lets a merchant inspect the proposed output before using the allowance on a wider run.
Storefront pixel
The storefront pixel is optional. When enabled, it can add first-party product and collection browsing signals to the analysis. It respects Shopify's customer-privacy controls and can be configured to require consent before data is sent. Intelligence does not need the pixel to analyse order history.
Where the output goes
Selected values are written to Shopify customer metafields. Shopify Flow, Shopify customer segments, Klaviyo, Attentive, POS extensions and other metafield-aware tools can use them. Intelligence does not promise that every connected platform creates or updates a segment automatically; the receiving workflow still needs to be configured.
Each profile also carries summary context for confidence, source and status so operators can distinguish an inferred value from a deterministic one and see whether it was accepted, held or needs review.
Data boundary
Shopify remains the primary customer record. Intelligence processes the data needed to produce the enabled fields and writes the selected results back to the merchant's store. Direct identifiers are minimised in the inference path, and the optional pixel uses the consent and retention controls documented for that product. See Where your data goes and Security.
Plans and profile refreshes
New plans are $49, $129 and $299 USD per 30 days, with 500, 2,500 and 7,500 successful customer profile refreshes per allowance cycle. Each successful refresh counts once regardless of enabled fields; failed refreshes, five-customer previews and metafield repairs are excluded. Annual charges are $528, $1,392 and $3,228 paid upfront, with monthly allowance replenishment. Existing field-unit agreements keep their approved terms until a replacement is approved in Shopify. See Plans and pricing.
Product boundary
Intelligence is Shopify-only. It reads from Shopify and writes to Shopify metafields. Equivalent profiling for another commerce platform is scoped through Retail ID rather than sold as the Intelligence Shopify app.
