The Piing platform
The Shopify-native recognition, Wallet pass and visit-attribution product for physical retail.
Piing gives a Shopify retailer a known customer visit, a useful Apple or Google Wallet pass, and the evidence needed to understand what happened after the visit. It runs as a native Shopify app with a Shopify POS extension.
Four recognition routes
Every route creates the same check-in event and reporting record:
- Kiosk. A pre-check-in welcome screen on a tablet, using Wallet, NFC and QR where the device supports them.
- Reader. A Piing reader mounted at the entrance or placed beside the kiosk.
- Printed sign. A store-specific QR route that needs no Piing hardware.
- Shopify POS. The Piing tile and staff workflow on the tablet the store already uses.
Staff can also scan the QR printed on a customer's pass at the till. The customer does not need to download a separate Piing app.
The Wallet pass
Piing issues branded Apple and Google Wallet passes with no per-pass charge. The live values can come from the programme the merchant already operates:
- points and tier from LoyaltyLion, Rivo, Yotpo or Antavo;
- Shopify store credit;
- merchant-controlled segments and tiers;
- visit milestones and membership status;
- a simple membership record with no points programme at all.
Merchant-configured Wallet messages can welcome a newly issued membership, confirm an accepted check-in, mark a visit milestone or follow a saved-item change. Issuing a pass does not confirm installation: a Wallet message needs an installed pass and the customer's device settings to allow it. Reward-unlocked, birthday and tier-change events remain reserved. See Wallet messaging for supported events and sending controls.
What staff can see
The Shopify POS extension can show the customer context selected for the store team: identity, tier, points, store credit, visit count, recent locations, saved-item context and supported customer metafields. The purpose is to give staff a useful starting point, not to replace the underlying CRM or loyalty system.
Attribution and outcomes
Piing records each visit with the store, time, source and customer reference. The merchant configures the analytics window used to relate a later Shopify order to that visit. A visit that leads to an order and a visit whose window closes without an order produce separate outcome signals, so reporting and follow-up journeys can distinguish buyers from visitors who did not purchase.
Reporting includes taps and check-ins by day, location and route, attributed orders and revenue, and the customer-level visit context written back to Shopify.
Current integrations
- Commerce and staff: Shopify and Shopify POS.
- CRM and messaging: Klaviyo, Attentive, Ometria and HubSpot.
- Loyalty: LoyaltyLion, Rivo, Yotpo and Antavo.
- Wishlist: Swym Wishlist Plus, Wishlist King and supported customer metafields.
- Custom: signed webhooks and documented events.
Fuego can work alongside Piing as a mobile-commerce layer. Retail ID is the route for non-Shopify and bespoke stacks. Neither is presented as a Shopify loyalty connector.
Hardware
The Piing reader is a one-off hardware purchase. It can be mounted at the entrance or placed beside the kiosk. The kiosk, printed sign and Shopify POS routes work without a reader, so the retailer can choose the combination that suits each store.
Pricing
Piing starts at $199 USD per month for zero or one physical store, with unlimited Wallet passes. Stores 2 to 10 add $129 each; stores 11 to 50 add $99 each. Annual billing saves at least 10% with whole-dollar prices, and the full yearly charge is shown before approval. Wallet passes, staff access and software recognition routes are included. Hardware is optional and purchased separately. Current figures, annual savings and shipping details are on the pricing page.
Where it runs
On Shopify, Piing installs as a native app and includes the Shopify POS extension. Retail ID brings the same recognition, Wallet and visit-event model to non-Shopify and bespoke retail stacks. Piing: Intelligence and Piing: Alerts remain separate Shopify-only apps.
