Connect LoyaltyLion

Show approved LoyaltyLion points and tier on a Piing pass, with optional activities that earn points through your LoyaltyLion rules.

Connect LoyaltyLion to bring a member's approved points and loyalty tier into Piing. Customers use a Piing pass in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, while LoyaltyLion remains the source of their loyalty balance.

Reading points does not change them. Sending activities to earn points is a separate setting and is off for a new connection.

Before you start

A LoyaltyLion Program API key with read_customers access.
Add write_customers only if you intend to send point-earning activities.
A test customer with matching Shopify and LoyaltyLion identities.
If you want awards, matching activity rules in LoyaltyLion.

Connect your programme

In LoyaltyLion, open Manage → API keys and create a Program API key.
Select the access you need and copy the key. It is shown in full only once.
In Piing, open Integrations → Loyalty platforms and choose LoyaltyLion.
Paste the Program API key. Leave Site token empty for this type of key.
Save, then use Test connection. These are separate steps.

For an older site token and secret pair, enter the secret as the API key and the token in Site token. Do not mix a Program API key with a legacy site token.

A successful test checks access to LoyaltyLion. It does not verify a member's identity or issue a reward.

Put loyalty on the pass

Choose loyalty points and tier in Piing's wallet designer. Save the Apple Wallet and Google Wallet designs you plan to use, then issue a Piing pass to your test customer.

Piing reads the approved points balance, not pending points. It matches customers using Shopify ID and email. Confirm the correct member before going live.

The pass integration does not display LoyaltyLion's full reward catalogue. If your Program API key does not provide the tier catalogue needed for your design, configure the tier labels in Piing and check them against LoyaltyLion.

Pass updates depend on a successful refresh and wallet delivery. They may not appear immediately.

Optional: award points through activities

Enable point awards in Piing, select the triggers, and create matching activity rules in LoyaltyLion.

LoyaltyLion's rule determines the award. A points amount sent by Piing does not override that rule. The request needs the customer's email and customer reference, so check both are present.

Review Award points on check-in for eligibility and limits. Avoid overlapping earning flows unless you intend to award twice.

Test before launch

Leave awards off and compare a test member's approved points and tier in Piing and LoyaltyLion.
Save their Piing pass and complete a check-in.
Enable one trigger and its matching LoyaltyLion rule.
Perform an eligible test, then check the member's activity and balance in LoyaltyLion.
Test a repeated visit to confirm the intended limits.

A connection test does not award points. A live activity can award points when awards and the matching rule are enabled.

If something looks wrong

Connection test fails: check key access and leave the site token empty for a Program API key.
No balance or wrong member: compare Shopify customer ID and email with the LoyaltyLion profile.
No award: check Piing's award setting, the trigger, LoyaltyLion's rule identifier and eligibility.
Unexpected amount: check the points configured in the LoyaltyLion rule.
