Connect Yotpo

Show Yotpo points and VIP tier on a Piing pass, with optional point awards for in-store activity.

Connect Yotpo Loyalty & Referrals to bring a member's points and VIP tier into Piing. Customers keep their Piing pass in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet; Yotpo remains the source of their loyalty balance.

Reading a balance does not award points. Point awards are a separate setting and are off for a new connection.

Before you start

Your Yotpo Loyalty API key and store GUID, available in Yotpo's loyalty settings. Keep the key private.
A test member whose Shopify and Yotpo profiles use the same email address.
Piing installed in your Shopify store. See Install the Shopify app.

Connect your programme

In Piing, open Integrations → Loyalty platforms and choose Yotpo.
Enter the API key and store GUID, then save.
Use Test connection. Saving credentials and testing them are separate steps.
Leave point awards off while checking the member's balance and tier.

A successful connection test checks access to Yotpo. It does not prove that every member matches, that a pass has been installed, or that a reward has been issued.

Put loyalty on the pass

Choose the loyalty points and tier fields in Piing's wallet designer. Save the designs you intend to use for Apple Wallet and Google Wallet, then issue a Piing pass to your test member.

Piing's direct Yotpo lookup uses email first, with Shopify customer ID as a fallback. Its current pass integration reads points and tier, not the full catalogue of redeemable rewards. Wallet updates depend on a successful Piing refresh and delivery by Apple or Google; they are not guaranteed to appear instantly.

Optional: award points

Enable point awards in Piing and choose the triggers and amounts you want to use.

Piing adds points directly to the customer's Yotpo balance. It does not send a campaign action for Yotpo to calculate. The history entry identifies the Piing trigger, and positive awards count towards lifetime points, which can affect tier progression. Piing's award request requires the member's email address.

Supported triggers cover check-ins, first-time customers, a purchase after check-in, visit milestones, a newly visited store, and adding a wallet pass. Review eligibility and limits in Award points on check-in.

Do not configure another earning flow for the same activity unless you intend to award points twice.

Test before launch

Keep awards off. Issue a Piing pass to your test member and compare its points and tier with Yotpo.
Save the pass on the intended phone and check in with it.
If you want awards, enable one trigger with a small test amount and use an eligible test member.
Check the result in Piing and the member's points history in Yotpo. Confirm both the balance and lifetime-points change.
Review duplicate visits and existing Yotpo earning flows before enabling more triggers.

A connection test or preview does not award points. An eligible live trigger with awards enabled can change a real balance.

If something looks wrong

No balance or tier: compare the customer's email and Shopify ID with their Yotpo profile, then test the credentials.
No point award: check that awards and the trigger are enabled, the email is available, and the event meets Piing's limits.
Unexpected points: review trigger amounts and other earning flows. Piing's direct adjustment is not controlled by a Yotpo campaign rule.
Pass still shows the previous balance: check the refresh result and allow time for the wallet update.
